Designed with Sustainability very much in mind, the Sheffield City Council Design Team have incorporated various features in the new Sharrow School development to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and create an environment which will stimulate and encourage the primary education of future generations.
Beco Wallform has been specified for the building below ground, providing not only the retaining wall structure but also the thermal insulation system. Heating is obtained through a ground source heat pump and also by solar gain through glazing on the exposed elevation. Bio-diverse roofing and rainwater recycling systems serve to reduce environmental impact and make positive use of natural resources.
