Large modern country house with three material claddings to the exterior - stone, render and horizontal cedar clapboard.
This large modern country house (6500 sq ft) was designed as a family home for the M.D. of a large regional property development company. The primary reason that Polarwall was selected as the construction method was for the high thermal efficiency at a cost effective price. The Polarwall X50 wall is providing a U-value of 0.18w/m2K , without allowing for the various external claddings used on the build.

The development company’s own in-house builders were trained by Polarwall in the formwork build techniques. Though none of the team had had any previous experience of constructing in insulating concrete formwork, the finished walls were of an exceptionally high standard and the build team werevery satisfied with their first efforts with this new material. The project manager commented “We were all very surprised by the robustness of the formwork and the way it holds the weight of the fluid concrete, but what really impressed us was the straightness of the walls that we built. It is not at all difficult to work with, and also gave us a top quality build and accepted an excellent finish”
